Getting started

Hey Everyone! I'm excited about this new adventure that God has asked me to do. My goal is to inspire you to get your body in tip top shape for whatever it is that God has in store for you and might ask you to do in the future. So let's get started!!

The Bible (New International Version) says in Isaiah 40:31 but those that hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

God knows that we're going to get tired, but if you hope in the Lord and call on the Lord then He will renew you! (Yes, even in times of exercising! LOL)

The best way to get started is to have a goal. Please feel free to share your goal with me; this way I know what we need to focus on. Most people I talk with want to have great looking abs, so we'll start there. To get these we need to do some form of a sit-up. It can be a standard sit-up, crunch, ball activity etc... just do whatever you're body/physician will allow you to do. Now since we're just starting out I'm going to only ask that you do 1 set of 5 repititions (reps) and we'll build from there. If you can only do 1, then do that & build up to 5. The thing to keep in mind is to challenge yourself! =) If you're a bit more advanced then I'm in the works of creating a site for you, but for now just know to do 15-25 reps.

If you choose to do a crunch make sure you lay on your back, feet on the floor with your knees pointing up and find 1 spot diagonally above you. You can put your hands behind your head to support your neck, but make sure you do not pull on your head or neck. Keeping your back flat, eyes on your chosen spot & slightly lift your upper body (to about the middle of your torso) off the ground. If you can't go that far off the ground, don't worry about it, just go as far as you can. The most important thing is to concentrate on your form. Form is what I focus on the most, because if you're not doing it correctly then you could injure yourself or not get any results...and we all know that's very frustrating!

Your other assignment is to do these as soon as you get out of bed. This will help to rev-up your energy and metabolism and also helps you to accomplish something first thing in the day! Just keep the above scripture in mind and know that you're doing this for God and then for yourself. Call on the Lord if you need any help...even if it's just getting out of bed!

We're working on creating the habit of getting out of bed and doing these first. It takes 21 consecutive days to create a habit. So, make sure to pat yourself on the back every time you get out of bed and do 5 reps of your selected type of sit-up!

God Bless & I look forward on our journey together!!
